NZC LEADERSHIP TRAINING
On Saturday, 18th May 2024 a one-day training program on the “Net Zero Carbon and Regulatory Alignment: Compliance with Competitiveness” was organized at the Dr. Jivraj Mehta Institute of Technology, Mogar, Anand in collaboration with NORMI Research Foundation. The distinguished guests Shri Devang Thakar, Member Secretary GPCB, Dr. Girdhar Gyani, President-NORMI Research Foundation, Mr. Prasoon Gargva, Regional Director CPCB, and Shri Narendra Shrimali, Chairman- DJMIT inaugurated the session with the other dignitaries. Honorable Principal Secretary, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Department of Environment and Forest, GoG addressed the august gathering and briefed about the significance of getting Net Zero Carbon Emission. More than 30 participants came from major industries, government departments, and public sector units to attend the training.
We have already emitted a lot of CO2 and now we can emit only a little CO2 to stay below the temperature rise of 1.5 ℃ by 2100. There are likely sectors where it is very difficult to reduce carbon emissions to zero. So, to offset that, we need to achieve carbon sequestration in the form of afforestation, green energy, or by some other means. Seven sessions in this regard had been delivered by experts of national and international repute in this training. A gamut of options that are technically and economically feasible has been discussed by experts of national repute including emerging research areas. At the end of the day, a panel discussion was arranged and participants actively interacted with experts to achieve net zero carbon emissions. In a nut shell this workshop initiated the actions to achieve carbon neutrality in economically feasible way at the earliest.
